DARK CRESCENT SISTERHOOD:
THE F.A.Q.

So, who—or what—are these mysterious Sibyls?

Anna Windsor:
Sibyls are warriors of the Dark Crescent Sisterhood, selected for their ability to control the elements (earth, fire, air, and water). Sibyls have been trained extensively in many forms of hand-to-hand combat, and their mission is to protect the weak from the supernaturally strong.
The Sibyls:
Chicks in leather. We pack serious steel. We kick ass.

Where do Sibyls come from?

Anna Windsor:
Sibyls are often born to “normal” families, usually in Ireland, Russia, or Greece, but they can come from anywhere. Trained Sibyls are also encouraged to reproduce, as their children
will likely inherit their elemental talents.
The Sibyls:
Duh. If you have to ask that question, you’re not old enough to read these books.

What’s a Motherhouse?

Anna Windsor:
Motherhouses are large fortresses where Sibyl elders live. Young Sibyls reside at Motherhouses while they train to fight and use their elemental magic.
The Sibyls:
Are these trick questions? A Motherhouse is where the Mothers live. We dare you to knock on the door. Now ask us a hard one.

Where do Sibyls live after they’re trained?

Anna Windsor:

Sibyls are deployed across the globe in fighting units, concentrated mostly in large cities, where paranormal activity is the greatest.

The Sibyls:
Wherever we damn well please. You got a sword big enough to
stop us?

Creed Lowell. Nick Lowell. Jake Lowell. Who are they? What are they?

Anna Windsor:

The Lowell brothers have many, many secrets. Secrets even I’m not allowed to tell. Suffice it to say they’ve all tangled with the Legion and come away scarred, and they intend to get revenge. . . and save the world and the women they love, if they can.

The Sibyls:

Two words:  Hot. Cops.
Screw the whole demon, half-demon mess. They have muscles, badges, and great big guns. What more do you need to know?

What is the Occult Crimes Unit?

Anna Windsor:

The Occult Crimes Unit is a low-profile division of the N.Y.P.D., charged with the task of investigating crimes that appear to have paranormal elements. When they learn about the Sibyls, they’re quick to form an alliance with the warriors, in the interests of protecting New York City.

The Sibyls:

Three words: More. Hot. Cops.
Any questions?

What is the Legion?

Anna Windsor:

A dangerous group of highly intelligent, wealthy, and often politically powerful people who believe it’s their destiny to take control of our world. They employ perverted rituals and misuse elemental energy to create demons and other brutal servants to carry out their aims. The Sibyls have been at war with them for more than a century.

The Sibyls:
Assholes with god-complexes. We make them bleed.

Anna Windsor:

If you have a question you would like to see answered in this F.A.Q., feel free to email me, and I’ll certainly consider adding it.

The Sibyls:

What are we, Google? If you want to know more about us, show up in the darkest alley in New York City, say, half past midnight. Yeah. Right when some freak-ass beast-thing starts growling and snarling and dragging itself through the shadows. And bring a huge friggin’ sword. You’ll need it.
